About this tour
We left the hotel towards Santa Cruz, where we visited the village centre. After this short stop, we head towards Porto da Cruz, where you can visit the sugar cane brandy factory, the only place where the machines are still running on steam.
Having said that, we head towards Santana, where we will be able to visit the famous “houses of Santana,” which are houses in which the thatch is covered with straw.
We continue towards the Arco de São Jorge, where we make another stop at the viewpoint of the cabana's where you can see most of the north coast of the island or even Porto Santo.
We continue along the old roads towards Ponta Delgada and up to São Vicente, all the way along the island's slope.
To end the day, before returning to the hotel, there is nothing better than stopping at the famous Serra d´água Poncha and toasting to this wonder called Madeira Island.
